Agus to Tumbang Naan

When I am busy flying, so many things happen during a week that it's hard to keep track of it all. This week I experience both highs and lows, literally and emotionally, while flying.

Above in the picture is our MAF office manager. The Lord has given him an incredible burden for one of the villages we serve, so I was able to take him to this village on Friday. He brought along a friend to lead in music, and together they led numerous worship services all weekend long. Agus was able to preach the gospel as well as explain to the people just what MAF could do for them. I was able to pick him up on Monday, and fly him back to Palangka Raya. This weekend Agus, with the help of another pilot, was busy editing a video that he filmed while in this village.

That was the high of this last week. The low was bringing a man back to his village to die. He was about 40 years old and had a stroke. When we flew him back he was in a coma and the hospital could do nothing more for him. This man had a little girl Julia's age so I felt like I could relate to him. He died three hours after getting to his house.

Finally....my checkout

This last week and a half has been very full of flying. Rick was able to come from Canada for a couple weeks to get me up to speed enough to start flying a floatplane for the people of South Borneo.

Rick was a great flight instructor, and as you can see, he was also very happy to help out. He would lend a hand even if it meant getting wet while taking care of the airplane in the rain.

The good news is that I can now fly to many of our landing locations.

Trail to the Airplane

On Friday, Jason and I decided to wait out some bad weather in the village of Kunyi. This is the trail from where we tie up our floatplane to the village. This is a picture of me going down the really bouncy log back to the floatplane.

Our Guys

MAF currently employs three guys full-time to help us with the airplanes and our ministry in Central Borneo. Each has his own gift to contribute to the team. Here is a picture of Abetnego who is gifted mechanically. He is helping with a repair to the float after a run in with a log in the river. You can see that it's a tight fit in there.

Not pictured are Agus and Sugianto. Agus is great in the office and with all our immigration needs. Sugianto does a great job flight following on the HF radio. He keeps track of where the airplanes are at all times.
