Fire Ants

The meanest fire ants that I have personally met in this world are in Long Bawan, Indonesia. When you would come near at all they would stand up on their hind legs and when you got close enough they would jump at you. Once they would bite, they were really hard to get off of you.

The fire ants in this picture are much less aggressive. These are the ones that live in our back yard. They still hurt when they bite, but at least they don't chase you down.

Fruit Market

There is one thing that we have in abundance here... FRUIT. We love all the great fruit that living here has to offer. Here are a few shots from our local fruit market. Look at how great the presentation of the fruit is. You almost don't want to buy any because you will mess up the great display.

New MAF film

This week I spent helping Ron film our operations and the culture here in Palangka Raya. Ron was sent here by our headquarters to get some new footage so the MAF can make a new video for showing to supporters and those interested in MAF.

It was a busy week as we sought to get the best film possible. I learned the best light to shoot by is the hour after sunrise and the hour after sunset. Therefore, we had several days of rising up early and working late. All week long Ron was there filming. He was even filming when I fell off the float of the airplane as we were unloading a critically ill passenger.

We were very excited with the results of all of Ron's hard work. Thanks Ron for taking the time to come out here and capture a small part of our lives.

What Are We Thinking? We MUST Be Crazy!!!

This week the steel arrived for our hangar project. We are possibly trying to build something that's never been built before. In a couple weeks there is a team coming from America to help us pour a giant CONCRETE floating dock. After the team leaves and the concrete dries we have to figure out how to erect all the steel from the pictures on top of it. We are going to have to lift all this heavy steel into place without a crane.
